My Crew
I believe in starting people out as laborers, and working there way up to lead positions.  The drive in me to teach is strong, and my people benefit from it.

Due to the current housing market, my crew fluctuates. I share several employees with other contractors, as we have labor needs, and bring back past employees and summer help, as the work load fluctuates.  I have ready access to two laborers and two second men.  I do have one permanent employee in addition to myself and have heard myself refered to as "That guy and his daughter who build houses"

Homeschool Aprenticeship Program, David

My second man is Kaleigh Frisinger. She has worked with me since 2008, and has become the best cut man I have had in almost twenty years.  I have had one second man who knew me so well we didn't have to talk to work, and two who advanced to lead man positions, but Kaleigh is the best when it comes to accurate cutting, be it rafters or timber truss components. It takes an artist with style and class to do finish grade carpentry on heavy timber framing.

She is also an artist, working in oil paint and hot glass.  I am hoping to eventually lose her to a glass studio, as there is not a lot of room for advancement in the framing industry right now, and I'd like to see her doing something that does not tear apart your body as much as framing does.

Knowing how to guide large components in without me having to take my eyes off my end is a pluss.

There is no one I would rather have at the end of a 24 foot rafter than Kaleigh.

I have an unofficial internship program for homeschool youth.

I can teach them the trade of carpentry, and they get fine arts or occupational education credit for it.
